Membrane gas storage

Storage that breathes with your plant.

Agrotel CenoTec double-membrane gas holders, digester roofs and buffer bags. Retrofit onto existing digesters or build free-standing, permanently gas-tight and maintenance free.

Overview

Gas production and withdrawal are never constant on a biogas plant. A gas holder buffers the difference, and Renew has partnered with Agrotel CenoTec, formerly Sattler, who invented the double-membrane gas holder in 1981.

The double-membrane design has proved itself over four decades and is now standard in modern wastewater treatment plant design. An outer membrane, kept taut by a small support-air blower, protects the inner gas membrane from weather and UV while the gas volume inside rises and falls freely.

Why membrane storage

  • Retrofit or free-standing. Storage can be mounted on top of existing digesters or built as a standalone structure to any desired volume.
  • Maintenance free, long service life. No moving seals, no water baths, no corrosion.
  • Quick to install. Days on site rather than months.
  • Permanently gas-tight. Losses are negligible and pressure to the users is constant.
  • Pre-conditioning built in. Optional sulphur-removal netting inside the holder starts the desulphurisation process before the gas even leaves storage.

The same membrane technology provides single- and double-layer digester roofs and flexible biogas buffer bags, and it is equally at home storing other combustible gases.
